Hometown Heroes

Emerald Asset Management, Inc., the Emerald Foundation and the Lancaster Barnstormers are pleased to announce that Officer Chad Nagel of the East Hempfield Township Police Department has been named as the August “Hometown Hero” for his service to our community and our country. Officer Nagel served for 20 years as a member of the US Army National Guard, and he continues to serve our community as a police officer for East Hempfield Township. In 2005, his National Guard unit was activated for an 18-month mission as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has received a number of military awards, including the Purple Heart Medal. He has been an officer with East Hempfield Township Police Department for 16 years and is also a Squad Leader for the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team (SWAT).

The Emerald Hometown Hero award was created in 2015 to recognize and honor outstanding individuals in our local community who have worked to make Lancaster–and our world–a better place through hard work, inspiration, sacrifice and leadership. Each month’s Hometown Hero will have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch and be honored with a banner in centerfield and a write-up in the Barnstormers program detailing their good works. Officer Nagel will be honored at the August 26th Barnstormers game.
