Robert McKane is an artist in Lancaster, Pennsylvania who works in acrylics. Never having had an interest or skill in painting, Bob began experimenting with acrylics after a stroke at age 74. His youngest son thought art might be helpful for his therapy and recovery. So, he sent him an art studio in a box! As Bob began experimenting with painting, he discovered that he enjoyed it very much. He leans towards abstract work and landscapes. Bob’s skill level advanced quickly and he has accumulated a surprising body of work. His main area of interest remains in painted and poured abstract art. He is expanding his artistic skills and continues to build a solid knowledge of painting techniques. His works create intense personal moments of abstractions. Using the concepts of color and motion, he investigates the dynamics of landscapes in an abstract way, and rather than presenting a factual reality he uses illusion to conjure the realms of our imagination. With this conceptual approach, he tries to present a wide scale of subjects in a multilayered way. He likes to involve the viewer in a way that is the ideas of function following form in a work.
