Hometown Heroes

The results of Marilyn Berger’s philanthropic support are unprecedented, impactful, and positive not only for the individuals she serves, but also for local organizations.  She is a contributor to the LCAR TLC Event for the Homeless and a contributor to the Heart Ball, as well as a Go Red for Women Sponsor, Share Your Heart event sponsor, Gingham Gala Sponsor, Lancaster County’s Red Rose Film Festival sponsor and a Sacred Heart Church/School sponsor.  She is a steady supporter of Lancaster Catholic as well as an Alumni.  Marilyn’s creative endeavors include “Music in Every Home” benefitting the PA Academy of Music and being an active Board Member of the Fulton Theatre and part of the Fulton’s Producers Circle.

Marilyn has a local heritage that dates back to her high school days.  Her early education was obtained through parochial schools.  A graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Marilyn attended Franklin & Marshall College and is a graduate of the Real Estate Institute.

On Valentine’s Day, 1979, Marilyn Berger opened the doors to her own real estate office.  She could not have chosen a better day for a career she loves so much.  The firm consisted of herself and a part-time secretary.  Being a small operation was not a problem for Marilyn, as she believes quality to be more important than quantity.  Marilyn is currently a licensed realtor in Pennsylvania and through the company, Keller Williams Elite real estate, she continues to service many counties in many states.  She actively sells commercial, residential and investment properties.  She continues to enjoy locating the right business or home for her clients, and shows no signs of slowing down.  She loves living and working in Lancaster County.

“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  This advice, as offered by Confucius, seems to best illustrate Marilyn R. Berger’s sentiments for selling real estate.  Marilyn is the first to say that, “I have never come in here (the office) one day, and thought I don’t want to be here.  I love it.”

The Emerald Hometown Hero award was created in 2015 in partnership with the Lancaster Barnstormers to recognize and honor outstanding individuals in our local community who have worked to make Lancaster and our world a better place through hard work, inspiration, sacrifice and leadership.
