Brian Wassell is a CPA and Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor with over 30 years of accounting and
business advisory experience. Brian grew up in Shippensburg, then went on to obtain a Bachelor of
Science degree in Accounting & Management at Lebanon Valley College, where he was a 4-year letter
winner of the varsity football team and was awarded MVP his junior year.
Brian joined Trout CPA immediately after graduation in July 1991 and has been a partner with the firm
for the past 24 years. This allowed him to establish roots in Lancaster County with his wife, Colleen, and
three children. Based on Brian’s vision and entrepreneurial spirit, he implemented and leads the firm’s
Outsourced Accounting and Transaction Advisory practice groups and is a member of the firm’s
management committee. Brian prioritizes providing the best client services possible through
understanding key issues and tax strategies facing business owners and companies. He has been
recognized by Central Penn Business Journal as a Forty under Forty award recipient for his commitment
to the profession. Brian has also been voted #1 Accountant for multiple years by the Readers of
Lancaster County Magazine.
Outside of work, Brian takes pride in being an active member of the community. He is treasurer of both
the Keystone Mergers & Acquisitions Council and the Lancaster County Junior Golf Tour, board member
of the Whitaker Center and Lancaster Country Club, and past treasurer of the Rotary Club of Lancaster.
In his free time, Brian enjoys activities with his family and two dogs, golf, and all things Penn State.
The Emerald Hometown Hero award was created in 2015 in partnership with the Lancaster Barnstormers to recognize and honor outstanding individuals in our local community who have worked to make Lancaster and our world a better place through hard work, inspiration, sacrifice, and leadership.
