Congratulations to CARMELO CRUZ  for being the Emerald Hometown Hero for the month of SEPTEMBER!

Carmelo Cruz is a Product Manager for Amphenol Corporation where he is focused on
delivering power solutions for next-generation architecture technology within data centers
world-wide. He has grown passionate for learning new emerging technologies and plans to fully
continue his career in the technology sector.

Carmelo is a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School (’13) where he was a member of the
2011 Football State championship team that finished with a perfect 16-0 season record. He
holds a B.S in Marketing & Economics from Lock Haven University, where he played an
additional four years and served as a team captain. In addition to playing football, Carmelo
served as an academic mentor to peer student-athletes and was honored as member of the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) All-Academic Team multiple years.
Since graduating, Carmelo has remained connected to the LHU football family, volunteering
when needed and helping with fundraising for scholarships. He has also remained very close to
the LCHS football program supporting his brothers Alex (’20) and Tony (’22), who both
eventually moved on to play collegiate football as well.

In his free time, Carmelo remains active in volunteering for various projects in Lancaster City.
Most recently and during the pandemic, Carmelo helped with the restoration project of Stevens
Greenland Cemetery, sponsored by the Veterans Court of Lancaster County and the African
American Historical Society. Carmelo is a member of the Lancaster Historic Lions Club where he
looks to continue helping his community and those most in need.

The Emerald Hometown Hero award was created in 2015 in partnership with the Lancaster Barnstormers to recognize and honor outstanding individuals in our local community who have worked to make Lancaster and our world a better place through hard work, inspiration, sacrifice, and leadership.
